We Provide a Nationwide Confidential Waste Disposal Service
Confidential waste disposal is an increasingly popular service amongst many of our customers. With higher levels of identity theft, consumer demands for the protection of personal information and the need for companies to protect their interests, confidential waste disposal has become an essential service for many companies and government bodies.
Businesses of all sizes rely on data and confidential documents. This information must be protected at all times, even when it comes to disposal.
Utopia Waste provides a nationwide service for the secure collection and destruction of sensitive and confidential material. We can provide both an on-site and off-site shredding service to meet your specific requirements. Utilising our extensive network of approved suppliers, we ensure that only fully trained and security vetted personnel (BS7858 standard) carry out the work on behalf of our clients.
Types of Confidential Waste
Any waste that contains personal or sensitive information can be considered as confidential waste. This can be any information that identifies a person, has trade secrets or includes any data that you don’t want to be made public. It also covers any information that could be used to commit fraud, identity theft or blackmail.
Below are a few examples of documents that your business should ensure are securely disposed of:
- Bank statements and other financial documents
- Invoices and purchase orders
- Quotes you have sent or received
- Payslips and other salary information
- Job applications and references
- Employee medical information
- Contracts, including employment and service contracts
Legal Requirements Regarding Confidential Waste
When it comes to data protection, there are two laws in particular that businesses must abide by. These are the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Data Protection Act covers all aspects of data management, including the collection, storage, processing and destruction of personal and confidential information. The rules are enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Businesses that fail to comply with the Act can face significant fines.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force on 25 May 2018 placed additional requirements on businesses. These requirements apply to all members of the European Union. The regulations give more power to individuals over their data and requires businesses to be more transparent in the way they use this information.
As well as a potential fine, a data breach through not dealing with confidential waste disposal properly can cause irreparable damage to the trust in your business.
We Can Provide On-Site and Off-Site Shredding
We can provide both an on-site and off-site shredding service. With our on-site shredding service, a state of the art shredding vehicle will collect and process your confidential waste directly at your premises. The shredded material is then taken to a recycling facility where it is baled and sent to a paper recycling mill.
If you opt for our off-site shredding service, your confidential waste will first be collected by a secure, traceable vehicle. The waste will be transported to a secure recycling facility, where it will be shredded and compacted into bales. All of these recycling facilities are secure and CCTV monitored.
Each stage of the process, whether on-site or off-site is carefully controlled and follows strict procedures. A certificate of destruction will be provided for your records as confirmation that the waste was securely disposed of.
Whether you require on-site or off-site shredding, your chosen service will always be carried out at an agreed time in a fast, friendly and professional manner. With each collection, you will be provided with a Waste Transfer Note and a Certificate of Destruction as evidence that your confidential waste has been dealt with appropriately.
Once shredded in a secure environment, all paper waste is baled and recycled. Utilising our confidential waste disposal service delivers environmental benefits as well as providing your company with complete peace of mind.
Other Confidential Wastes
In addition to the secure disposal of confidential paper waste, we are also able to provide a nationwide collection and destruction service for a full range of other materials. This includes items such as computer hard drives and other computer storage devises, CDs, DVDs, video surveillance data and company uniforms.
We can also provide the collection, destruction and disposal of faulty goods and end of line products. Depending on the waste and your specific requirements this can be achieved through either shredding, deep burial or incineration.
